The main title is in Old English and means “to hope for and trust in” in reference to 1 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV):
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
The series invites viewers into my meta-narrative which conveys some of the evidences/apologetics that led me to faith in Christ and continue to convince me of the truth of Christianity. It is an invitation to viewers to consider God’s ultimate narrative of salvation in the world, in the Bible, and in their own story. Each piece portrays apologetic proofs as I encountered them, which ultimately led me to faith in Christ. The title and description of each piece assist in conveying meaning and the installments include various quotes from literature and scripture. The exhibit is a full-sensory experience, to draw attendees into my narrative and toward God’s truth, and includes music and scents which are drawn from my experiences and relate to each piece.
After attendees have had time to view the exhibit, I will present my thesis research (please visit: https://www.rachelshockeystudio.com/ahopian-to-exhibit-and-thesis/), explain how the exhibit portrays my apologetic for Christ, and have time for Q&A.
