Maker to Maker: Calligraphy session details

Message from the Moderator:

Today's calligraphy ranges from highly legible traditional letterforms to those which have their basis in those same letters, but favor expression over legibility. While appreciating both approaches, I am most interested in finding a balance between legibility and expression. These word pictures use letter style, color, letter path, and layering to express the meaning of a text. This visualizing process has also become a powerful way for me to meditate on great words, especially from the Bible.

  • What is it that attracts you to calligraphy?
  • What hands-on experience do you have?
  • What other art forms are you interested in?
