My submission to Imago Houston for their annual Holy week exhibit. Title: We all fall down. Back story -

Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!” Rev. 14:13

Revelation 14:13 is the only place we see in the New Testament where the word Blessed is repeated twice while referring to the same subject – in this case - those who die in the Lord. In my title We all fall down I wanted to capture, via metaphor (various sizes and types of leaves), that while we place people into groups – race, color, creed, sex, age, etc – ALL of those who “die in the Lord” are “blessed indeed.” His shed blood paid the price for everyone regardless of the label we wear. When leaves fall from the tree, it’s but a momentary transition until we are raised to new life.

The title also represents our fallen state. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. It’s not by our own merit that we ascend to heaven, but by the righteousness of Christ.
