Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Artist Statement
This piece demanded more of a creative approach in its execution than paint and canvas could provide. I was inspired by the challenge of duplicating the weeping quality of rusting bullet holes in metal, using wood panel, flexible molding paste and acrylic paint. Below the surface, through the largest bullet hole lies my 1 1/2 inch painted copy of Rembrandt's "Christ on the Cross". With the use of LED lights and 2 D batteries, "Salvation" morphed into an interactive piece of art. By using the switch located on the side of the piece, the viewer can discover The Light within. The rust represents the erosion of physical and emotional wounds. Hope is revealed through salvation in Jesus Christ.
