Artist / Personal Statement
In 2004 a bunch of artist friends converged in a New Delhi apartment space to make art about a social issue. They stayed together and painted for a week and they loved it so much that they decided to make it an annual ritual. Out of this collaboration emerged the Art for Change Foundation that was launched in 2008. Our vision is to see art shape society with beauty and truth and we aim to create art that affirms life and human dignity in response to social realities. We also work to inspire, train and network with young emerging, freelance artists in order to explore the role of art in society and their responsibility vis-à-vis social issues. Another focus of the organisation is to create opportunities for the under privileged and socio-economically marginalized to find expression, identity and healing through art as well as opportunities for the general public to engage with thought provoking and life giving art.
