Inspired by the relationship between the organic wildness of the natural world and the human order we try to create from it, I’m drawn to the inherent beauty and spirit revealed in our post-industrial landscapes. I delve into what lies beneath our surfaces, and reveal the fragility of the structures we build within the context of growth and decay, memory and the passage of time.
My work mixes the ancient with the contemporary as I find new meanings in age-old materials and processes using mineral pigments, egg tempera, and beeswax. Making my own paint from ground pigments, I dive deeper into both image and process.
