Communion

A three panel series depicting our communion with Christ – we have communion with Him in His death and in His resurrection, but also in our fellowship with Him.

Working on Yesterday

Oil on canvas, 14 x 11 inches. I painted this portrait of my granddaughter, Jocelyn. She has amazing musical talent and is a avid fan of the Beatles -- very retro!

Artist / Personal Statement
My paintings, sculptures, and installation pieces are focused on helping the Church to reflect on the biblical story of Christ's redemption while building a bridge to those who have yet to cross the line of faith.

My prayer is that the people viewing my works will find one element, one gesture, one expression that opens the eyes of their soul and moves them closer to Jesus Christ; and, as a result, changes the arc of their life.
Accomplishments / CV
I am currently pursuing advanced skills in the visual arts as a holy vocation – striving to magnify the wonder of God’s presence and involvement in our lives.

One of my recent still life paintings, "Bon Oeuf” (oil on canvas, 11" x 14"), was accepted for the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, February Regional Exhibition (http://fccava.org/).

Two paintings -- "Stone & Petals" and "Manikin, Brushes, and Books" were included in the December 2013, Members Holiday Show at the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts (see http://civa-artists.ning.com/photo/albums/still-lifes).

Four "Selfie (Off Centered)" paintings were included in the November 2013, 6”x6”x6” Juried Show at LibertyTown Artworks in Fredericksburg, Virginia (See http://civa-artists.ning.com/photo/selfie-off-centered?context=albu...).

An eight painting series depicting the Stations of the Cross (see http://civa-artists.ning.com/photo/albums/stations-of-the-cross-1) were exhibited at Horizons Church in Stafford, Virginia during their Spring 2013 week of prayer.

The painting "Who Touched Me?" (http://civa-artists.ning.com/photo/albums/if-only-who-touched) was exhibited at Horizons Church in Stafford, Virginia during their Spring 2013 week of prayer.

Living with Evil

Posted on December 15, 2012 at 5:06am 0 Comments

Evil continues to do its work in this world. True, victory over evil has already been won on the Cross, but there are still enemy forces on the loose; and they are intent on inflicting as much harm on God’s creation as possible. So, we must fully understand that we occupy the enemy's territory and prepare ourselves accordingly until Christ returns in Glory and makes all things new (Colossians 2:15 and Ephesians 6:11-12).

Thank you Dave for your comment.  Sometimes many forget to offer what they can; I hope to be of service with my religious art as well.  Thank you!

Thank you for your comment David. I am thankful to find CIVA and people such as yourself who value Christ through the arts. I will be posting more of my work and more information about my studio practice this week. I'm filling out my profile piece by piece in between projects. I would like to know more about how you build a bridge to faith through art for those who haven't crossed into God's saving grace yet.

Dear Dave, I've just got to your site after a long absence and I enjoy what you've done.  Your appreciation of your granddaughter comes through.  And as regards the watermelons...Great!

I hope you're doing well.  Take care.

Thanks David for your comments and encouragement! What a great forum for like-minded people to encourage one another "and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (Heb.10:25b)! Jim

Dave, your recent work captures me as it draws to the painted-message and encourages further exploration.

Thanks for stopping by my website David. I enjoyed looking through your portfolio as well and was especially taken with the portrayal of the woman at Jesus's hem. So good to meet you and blessings to you!
