"Beautiful! I love all of the color, pattern and texture. I have just begun working on a series inspired by the hexagonal shape, however it is totally different from this beautiful piece."

Artist / Personal Statement
ONCE UPON A TIME
PAINTING IN HER DREAMS
TRUE STORIES
WAITING TO BE SEEN

Born an artist in Texas of mixed heritage (father from Maine), Gwen Meharg’s artistic journey has been one of integration; particularly the integration of secular and sacred into a fuller expression of humanity.

My goal is to tell stories that radiate and give expression to truth. New stories as old as humanity and old stories new in the telling.

Truth, while absolute, is seldom simple. A painting, portraying truth, a true story, will tell a different story to each viewer. The interpretation process is personal to each of us. Like life, truth is complicated and I strive to portray the complexity of truth through my paintings and installations.

Dear Gwen,

I will be most happy to meet with you when you come to Austin. I live near UT,

2100 Rio Grande. This week, Thursday, at 7 pm I have a gallery talk at VAM Gallery at First Evangelical Free church. I am showing 90 pieces. If you would like, come for the reception, or send your sister. God bless you! Tatiana

Nice to meet another horse person on CIVA.  My horse is named Jehoshaphat after II Chronicles 20.  Had him for 24 wonderful years.

Gwen--it was great to be with you at LL. hope to see you at Baylor. (If LL would like to keep the altarpieces all they'd need to do is raise lots of money... ;>)
