DEVOTIONS

Posted on May 14, 2014 at 2:12pm 0 Comments

Spun through the etymological wash, “DEVOTIONS” yields a dark (and delicate) set of threads. Like its Latin-rooted siblings, the word enjoys a peculiar dead-language gravitas. Ancient incense wafts into view, and someone rings a bell: the cue to unfurl an enormous roll of papyrus. Coven(ant)s are made, curtains are drawn (and torn), and…

Artist / Personal Statement
My analog mind meshes media (sculptural, tactile, & photographic) with digital tools. My fallen soul strives for stewardship. I remain rooted in redemption: dust, dependant on collision with life-breath. In these tapestries I am led to mimic that creative Spirit whose knitting needles animate atoms … so that threads and pixels dance, singing of (and with) the restless wrestling human heart. Cataracts may one day fill these dim glass eyes – weak vessels for reflections of Sonatas from beyond the veil – but in such struggle beauty thrives. In my images, I reflect with local whimsy and cosmic gravity on process and pattern, voraciously exploring what lives and moves between the organic and the synthetic.
