Artist / Personal Statement
Making art is an act of remembering. I draw, carve, paint, and write in search of the lesson, the pearl of great worth, the gold in the dross. I refine, concentrate, preserve the best parts. A human life is diluted with struggles and distractions. An artist records truth and surprises the viewer with beauty.

I think your show is very strong, and I really like the variety and energy in the way you take the wood apart and transform it. You also do a great job with presentation. I think I like the more sculptural works the most, but that is probably just personal preference. It is a very nice set of works.
I may indeed have taught some of your former classmates, I have been doing it a while!

Thanks for your kind affirmation. I am looking forward to the conference as well. If you are an artist, I would enjoy viewing your work.
