Artist / Personal Statement
I believe that life is a constant struggle to find out the identity of self in relation to many different situations we go through whether gladly or sadly. That journey of figuring out one's identity makes who that person is. My art is, the way I see it, a simple journal/sketchbook that one would take along when he/she departs for a journey: It doesn't represent grand ideas nor give a feeling of full visual/conceptual completion leaving some room for more discoveries that can only come from the viewers own journeys.
As an Asian-American, I started my physical journey of crossing the borders of countries, cultures, and languages at young age and never stopped that journey as the stages of my life kept me wondering around in the midst of many things to be defined. I find myself accumulating emotions and thoughts in waiting of suitable ways to let them out in visually appealing forms to myself. That is normally how my works are created.
