"WOW really beautiful and wild! Must be great to have the time now to produce the art. Question, I'm installing this Saturday my art pieces in a library in the Village. You had mentioned a company that has all the wire hangings…"
Maria Fee’s current body of work utilizes the collage medium to communicate the fragmented, erratic, and diverse aspects of our society. The multi-step development of this type of work appeals to notions of time, build up, and collecting. The gathering instinct hunts for magazined images that will eventually be used to relate the possibility of beauty and cohesiveness.
In many of Maria's works, the magazine text O relates themes of consumerism, impenetrable autonomy, and homogeneity. The visually chaotic surface rendered by these gathered finds are eventually overlaid with organic forms that seek cohesion and unity. For this artist, the creative process signifies a hopeful movement towards relationality. Humanity is not an isolated affair.
