Artist / Personal Statement
Mico Di Arpo is an international master buon fresco artist and painter. She is an advocate for the continuation of fresco as a viable art-form and is acclaimed for creating soulful art that communicates contemporary ideas using this old world technique. Mico studied under master fresco artists Luigi Di Pietro in Florence Italy for 4 years before returning to the states to study with Stephen Dimitroff, (Diego Rivera's assistant), in the early 90s. Over the past two decades she has completed an ambitious array of private commissions that include pieces for the Serbian and Greek Orthodox church, and His Eminence Sean Cardinal O'Malley. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows and was awarded an education 21 grant in 2005. Mico is the grand jury winner of the 2006 NY international art festival and has given several lectures on the art of fresco at scholastic venues. Micos' latest project is the creation of the largest fresco mural in history to be created by a woman.
