Artist / Personal Statement
I am a visual artist and work part-time as a freelance painter and illustrator. I opened my professional studio in 2010 but I began working with oils over 20 years ago. I enjoy creating art with conte, charcoal, pen & ink, watercolor, and oil. I create pieces in both the traditional and impressionistic styles, as well as with the direct and indirect method. I specialize in portraiture and often create pieces which draw from my passion for literature (especially the fantasy and sci-fi genres). Currently, I am working on a series of installments and paintings which have a Christian apologetic emphasis (the defense of the Christian faith). Through these pieces, I will attempt to relay the truth of sin, human depravity, God’s grace, the glory that awaits believers in heaven, objective truth, objective beauty, intelligent design, etc. I believe art is one of the most powerful and beautiful methods through which to reach the hearts of unbelievers, yet is sadly underutilized by Christians. I appreciate CIVA's encouragement toward Christian artists to use their gifts for Christ. Art has a way of drawing people to the bosom of Christ and the Church desperately needs this.
Accomplishments / CV
I hold a B.A. in Contemporary Literary Studies and a minor in Communication from Warner University and am a graduate student in Biola University's Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics program. Other academic achievements include a semester abroad at the University of Oxford in the fall of 2006 and the completion of the Core Module in Christian Apologetics through Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. I reside in Clearwater, FL, with my husband Ben.
