"I am thankful for your deft hand in handling such a poignant subject. It brings me to tears - we are responsible for ripping apart our daughters...and for what or whom? .the very ones who want to trash it when they have captured it in their net...…"

Artist / Personal Statement
A syntheses of my background in fine art, fashion and religion, The Cult of Beauty is an ongoing series of representational figurative oil paintings portraying a social-philosophical narrative. Based on the concept that the human spirit longs for love and approval, these paintings examine how a delicate self-worth can be undermined in a society where idealized standards seem hallowed and venerated; the environment of the isolated female figure is one of ceremonial prayers and offerings, extended with the hope of meeting and maintaining those standards. I’ve drawn upon both Biblical and Occult references to evoke the concepts of worship and bondage while attempting to illuminate the choices which are made with regard to the paradox of freewill and servitude. The raw, solo environment of these paintings are meant to promote a voyeuristic observation of human nature’s vulnerability when caught in the universal struggle for acceptance.
