Artist / Personal Statement
My creative process includes children’s illustration, writing and abstract realism painting. I believe that God has created each person with different creative gifts for the purpose of sharing His love and making an impact on the development of our Christian character.

Realistic and imaginative painting, for me, is the process of immersion that involves contemplation, and embracing beauty. I find commissioned work more challenging as my goal is to achieve a likeness and to strive to satisfy the expectation of the client. The process involves both discipline, and deliberation.

The subjects of my artwork vary from biblical themes, ethnic and racial themes, to themes of historical appreciation. My painting involves a dynamic interaction of invention and the discipline of pushing the limits of my skill and creativity in a tenacious quest for illusive truth. It is about discovery and it is about connecting people to life.

I need to feel that I am, “in the presence of God”, while in the act of painting. I prefer to have music playing while painting, the music gets me energized and into the act of painting with spiritual energy. Painting with music soothes my spirit and without total peace I cannot paint.

My favorite Scripture in Ephesians 3:20 we read; Now Him that is able to do far more abundantly above all that we could ever ask or think, according to the power that works within us.

Growing up, did you ever feel like a misfit?

Until now I have never told anyone the personal experiences that I faced as a child.  Now that my career has taken a turn creating children's illustrations I hope to share challenges I faced growing up so I can encourage children and their parents to be more aware of their feelings and the feelings of others.

My life started as a new born baby weighing…
