Why art? I didn’t know that I would become an artist when I started at Luther College in 1975. What I figured out through taking many and various classes, is that when I was in the art building, I was happy. When I was creating, I was happy. When I was painting, had my head in the colors, so to speak, I was happiest. So, I leaned in that direction. Sometimes finding your vocation is leaning into your passion, and trusting that God will lead you through the gifts you have been given. Frederic Buechner, theologian, said, “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."

Selection into Brown County Museum's Annual Juried Art Show. My watercolor "Red Roof Inn" received People"s Choice Award. 2000
Received $1000 Artist Grant from Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council to study with Cheng Kee Chee in Duluth, MN. 2000.
Entered New Ulm Public Library's Somsen Memorial Art Show. "Red Roof Inn" was purchased for the Library's permanent collection. 2001
Received $1000 Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council Grant to study with Catherine Wilson Smith, Dillman's Arts Foundation, Lac D'Flambeau, WI, 2002.
Received $1000 Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council Grant to finance an exhibit of watercolors at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, United Church of Christ, in New Ulm and Luther College in Decorah, IA. 2004
