Artist / Personal Statement
Roz Dimon has been a pioneer in the field of digital art since the mid 1980s – long before any of us had heard of the World Wide Web.
Graduating with a B.F.A. in Drawing & Painting from The Lamar Dodd School of Art in her native south, Roz moved to New York City in 1981. The city’s electronic pulse resulted in a series of oils titled “Information Paintings.” Her canvas transformed by pixelated squares, she enrolled in one of the earliest digital art classes at The School of Visual Arts.

The World Trade Center/Financial Center became Roz’s ‘graduate school’ where she headed up new media departments for such corporate giants as Deloitte and The Wall Street Journal Online. Meanwhile her work was shown in the first digital gallery in the United States, she curated an international show “code” for Ricco/Maresca Gallery in Soho and her work gathered numerous private and corporate collectors, which includes eight digital works in the collection of AT&T.

Shortly after 9/11, she invented and trademarked a multilayered, interactive painting technique called a DIMONscape®. One of these works, Pale Male a Pilgrimage, #3/10, was acquired by the 9/11 Memorial Museum for their permanent collection in 2013.

Her body of work includes original oil paintings, multi-layered portraits, and multiple series of American artifacts, a favorite theme for this artist.

Roz was the former Communication Arts Director at St. Bart’s in New York City from 2008-2013 and has recently graduated from ONE SPIRIT Interfaith Seminary in NY.

She splits her time between NYC and Shelter Island. See her work at
