Artist / Personal Statement
Creation itself is a reflection of our Creator God. It is sustained by His Breath and pulsates with His Life. Through my work, I aim to make this manifest, to open the eyes of the blind. The beauty of His creation interpreted through my art, may be contrasted with the pathos of the fall. Pathos itself is an aspect of the divine personality, revealing the mercy heart of the Creator, in His sacrificial identification with it. Depending upon the media used, the message, and structure of the project I am working on, the intended effect will vary. When moving beyond a 2D or 3D image, some works and installations invite participation by immersing the viewer in an environment that amplifies a perception of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Other work may give opportunity for the participant to experientially identity with an aspect of Christ, such as the passion of His sufferings in the Way of the Cross, by putting ourselves in His place, through a virtual artistic environment, so to speak. In my collaboratively created art works, I aim to involve the community in an tangible, educational experience of the dynamics of God's promises. This is provided by a guided layering of the art materials by working in stages, transforming pathos to joy, chaos to order, brokenness to wholeness and darkness to light.
