Artist / Personal Statement
I was born and reared in that great cosmopolitan cow-town known as Houston, Texas, then moved over to San Francisco, California. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Houston in 1997.
Since then, I've spent the years writing, illustrating, self-publishing and promoting books for children and adults. Another avenue has been solo and group exhibits of mostly oil paintings. Then there are the public art works. Collaborations with tailors, carpenters, ceramicists and stained glass craftsmen to make installations in churches. A mural here, a logo there, some digital elements employed to design brochures and banners. Illustrated for a Jesuits’ book of essays, and contributed graphics and logos for the Blind Vietnamese Children Foundation (their art director for ten years) and other non-profits. In 2019, I finally began posting a web comic, 8 years in the making, about the daily life f a priest. A deeper understanding of spirituality and fellow sisters and brothers’ relationships with God – this is what I wish to communicate through art and writing. I hope I helps others with their journeys.
